That’s right, Mephisto Edge can be a scary thing. It’s most effectively used after midnight, in a quiet room with the lights out. If you’re a wuss, you’ll use it in the mid afternoon with your best friend watching your back.

Jamis Buck doesn’t let the fear get to him though. He just relaunched his blog after a little hiatus. This site is one of the first I’ve seen to take advantage of some of the new liquid tags to implement a real archives area. If you happen to run on edge, you can look at the updated default Hemingway theme for some hints.

Mephisto 0.7 is still on a roll. Justin just committed the initial Theme area. It’s still pretty much unimplemented, but this is the last feature for this release.

Has anyone else experienced a "User X has already more than 'max_user_connections' active connections" error while using Mephisto before? I'm wondering if this is a problem with edge rails not closing active db connections, or with an activerecord connection within mephisto that isn't closed.

Hi Raymond, your best bet for bug reports is the google group (on the sidebar), not commenting on unrelated blog posts :) Mephisto just uses ActiveRecord. I don't know of any current issues regarding ActiveRecord and database connections.

Will sure do =) Anyway I found out the max_user_connections had to do with zombie dispatch.fcgi processes sticking around and clogging up resources due to a mistake I made configuring the .htaccess file. Great job on Mephisto.. I think it's great that it's so easy to customize your blog engine and how lean it is compared to bloated Typo. And I agree, edge mephisto and edge rails are scary.. but I'm running both right now and have had no problems running it with some customizations of my own. Looking forward to your upcoming release, though I doubt I'll be upgrading just yet since everything is working perfectly so far and I wouldn't want to risk breaking it (made too many changes to the templates and added code here and there).
