The development version of Mephisto now runs under Rails 2.2.2.
Particular thanks go to Isaac Kearse, who fixed scores of test-case failures and bugs. Thanks also go to James McCarthy and George Murphy for their patches, and to Rick, for his invaluable advice and support. This was a round-the-clock effort: I’d wake up in the morning and find a whole stack of patches waiting to be merged.
Here’s what we still need to do before releasing Mephisto 0.8.1:
- We need to finish going through the interface, and fix any regressions that we find.
- We need to test Mephisto with Phusion Passenger and other deployment environments.
- We need to make sure the plugin system is still working.
If you’d like to check it out, please see the installation instructions for Edge Mephisto. Many thanks to everybody for their help!

Thanks to danlynn, who found a “brown paper bag” bug.
This should now be fixed, allowing ‘rake db:create’ and ‘rake db:bootstrap’ to be run from a fresh install.
Hi,
Just a quick note to say that we’ve been running the latest stable mephisto for a few months now on Passenger. Running without a hitch so far.
Thanks,
Tom
This is great news! Thanks to all involved.
I’ll be deploying mephisto edge on passenger hopefully later this week, I’ll let you know how it goes…
D’oh!
(Lacking a Rails 2.2-compatible Mephisto, I moved back to wordpress…)
Good luck anyway!
I’m actually running an old (like, really old) mephisto on passenger and haven’t had any issues at all.
Good to see the old girl getting kicked back into life.
Beautiful – and I also was just about to switch back to Wordpress but hadn’t got further than thinking about it :)
Time to get upgraded locally and give it a spin on passenger.
Great news! Thanks for all of your hard work Mephisto team.
+1 for edge mephisto and Phusion Passenger. I deployed without any problems.
It’s good to hear that Mephisto is still alive. I was getting worried since it’s been so quiet around here. Looking forward to the stable release.
